As someone who has never been to Nepal (but would like to), I'll have to take the words of my family who has been.
Downtown MoMo is really good, as my first time eating Nepalese food. My surprise is that it has Chinese influence (chowmein, for example) thrown in.
Downtown MoMo has variety of dishes on offer, most are dumplings and options are vegetables, chicken or buff (stands for buffalo).
Surprisingly, buffalo is lean without being tough. It was quite tender when cooked. We ordered different momo and dishes to try, they were all tasty: steamed momo, momo platter (fried was the best for me), samosas, aalu chop and mustang aalu were really good, and chhoela sets.
Prices and portions were reasonable, some portions were large too.
Just keep in mind, their spicy level, mild can still be very hot for some. I eat very spicy so I didn't notice.
My brother says it's exactly like when he was in Kathmandu, so he was in his happy place. He's happy he found Downtown MoMo, so close to his place, too.
Service is really lovely and friendly, as well. Newly opened (January 2025), so I wish them all the best and every success for their trading future.
